Plain language training and content review for financial services

We help financial services and financial inclusion organisations communicate clearly and with impact. Our specialist services cover customer content, user research, policy writing, financial inclusion advocacy and impact reporting. We also train teams in communication skills.

Our content takes ages to get through internal review

Agree a clearer way to write and review content

Writers and reviewers may be responsible for different aspects of the same draft. Reviews become harder when their requirements are unclear or conflict.

We help your team agree the content’s purpose and resolve those requirements together. The process gives each reviewer a clear role and a shared basis for decisions.

Services

Communication strategy
We examine how content moves from brief to approval, including where decisions are reopened or responsibility is unclear. Working with your reviewers, we establish editorial criteria and a review sequence that reflects their responsibilities. Your team gains a repeatable process for resolving disagreements while protecting accuracy and customer understanding.
Training and coaching
Our plain language training uses your own content, so writers and reviewers can practise resolving the questions that cause delays. Coaching then helps participants apply that judgement to difficult drafts and build a shared approach that extends beyond the workshop. The emphasis is on decisions they can explain and apply again.

Questions about plain language training and review

Can legal and compliance teams be included in plain-language training?

Narratology’s Director, Frances Gordon, notes that legal and compliance teams should always be included in plain-language training.

For financial inclusion, legal rights and obligations must be explained clearly, so that everyone can understand them. Clear marketing materials alone are not enough. Legal and compliance teams need to follow the same plain-language principles.

This is especially important when communicating with people in vulnerable circumstances.

Can writers, legal specialists and compliance reviewers be trained in the same group?

The programme can bring writers and reviewers together around shared content. We clarify responsibilities and practise resolving disagreements about meaning, accuracy and customer understanding. The content and exercises reflect the participants’ roles and the decisions that delay approval.
